Sumter, SC – For Immediate Release

Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments recently released its annual audit for fiscal year 2017-2018, conducted by the audit firm of Mauldin Jenkins.

The report issued was an “unmodified opinion”, the highest (best) opinion that can be rendered. The auditors reviewed internal controls and were satisfied with the results, noting there were no findings over internal controls of the financial reporting, nor the stewardship of major programs managed by the Santee-Lynches COG. Deputy Executive Director and CFO Kathy Powell stated, “We are blessed to have a great team of people who conscientiously and consistently aim high every day. That kind of commitment is what it takes to achieve these results.”

For 10 consecutive years, the financial management and internal control procedures of the Santee-Lynches COG have resulted in clean audits. This meant there were no findings or questioned costs, which resulted in the Santee-Lynches COG receiving the highest opinion that can be given in each of those years. The standards we set for financial and programmatic management are designed to make us a premier agency, one that is committed to superior stewardship of the funds entrusted to us. Executive Director, Chris McKinney, stated, “Staff is laser-focused on stewardship, adding value to others, and providing a superior customer experience. This audit report is just one out-growth of their focus.”
