Community Needs Public Hearings Scheduled for Santee-Lynches Counties, Cities, and Towns

Communities anticipating participation in the State of South Carolina’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, Economic Development Program, and the Federal HUD HOME Program must provide for participation of their citizens in the planning and implementation of CDBG, Economic Development, and HUD HOME-funded projects, in accordance with Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.

In order to meet this need, Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments, on behalf of the local governments of the four-county region, has scheduled and will facilitate needs assessment public hearings throughout the region, using the below schedule. March 4, 2019 at 6:00 PM – Town of Summerton (location: Summerton Town Hall)
March 5, 2019 at 6:00 PM – Town of Pinewood (location: Pinewood Community Center)
March 5, 2019 at 6:00 PM – Lee County (location: 140 N Main Street, Bishopville)
March 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM – Town of Turbeville (location: Turbeville Town Hall)
March 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM – City of Bishopville (location: Colclough Building)
March 12, 2019 at 6:00 PM – Clarendon County (location: County Administration Building)
March 14, 2019 at 6:00 PM – Kershaw County (location: County Government Center)

The purpose of the Public Hearings is to review and solicit comments from the general public on each county/city Citizen Participation Plan, and to solicit public input on community needs and priorities for housing, public facilities, economic development, water/sewer facilities, public safety components and job creation with a Needs Assessment Survey.

The Citizen Participation Plans is available for review at the Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments Offices, or at the respective City or County Administration Buildings between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
