Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA)

Santee-Lynches Regional County of Governments is partnering with area counties, Sumter, Lee, Kershaw, and Clarendon, to help meet the needs of locals in financial crisis. The SLCOG Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program is for people living in the four counties who are low to moderate income and meet one of the following criteria:

18 years or older or, married or, a military veteran or, have at least one dependent.

The application process takes at least 30-45 days. This process includes:
Tenant Completion of the Application and Agreement (online)
Verification of all Income Sources (3-4 paystubs with hourly rate and hours per week)
Coupon (issued to tenant for signature)
Landlord Completion of the Lease Agreement and Unit of Approval (to be completed and returned)
Copy of Lease (Applicants must have a one-year lease; month to month is not accepted.)
Inspection (repairs recommended, but not required)
Rental Assistance Determination and Contract to be completed by Landlord.

Payments are made via check directly to the Landlord for 1 year (W-9 required). The tenant is responsible for their portion of the rent every month.

Applications will be processed in the order received. Once your application is processed, you will receive an updated email or phone call.

We do not assist with evictions, back rent, security deposits or utilities.
